Cecy's Gallery & Studios DURHAM NC
Born and raised in San Francisco, I grew up in a family of artists. I am a fan of the Bay Area artist Richard Diebenkorn, his abstracts, his colors and his story. After graduating from San Jose State University, I went to work at Nordstrom, where my time as a womens designer clothing buyer sealed my ability to coordinate color, pattern and shape.
Moving to the south in 1990, the colors of the seasons further inspired me. I am a self taught, mixed media artist, using pencil, acrylic, and oil pastel to intuitively create interest with line, shape and color.
My true love is sharing art experiences, by teaching children in my art classes, with cancer patients at Caring House in Durham, and at the North Carolina Museum of Art, where I give tours and discuss art with school children and adults. Today I use my art as my way to give. I donate all profits to support organizations such as Wounded Warriors, The ALS Association, Walltown Children’s Theatre, ASPCA, and local schools
